Ada di mana diri Anda pada bulan Mei sepuluh tahun silam (1998)? Melalui “Di mana saya?”, Anggun Priambodo menelusuri kisah sejumlah ‘orang biasa’ setelah satu dekade reformasi berlalu melalui foto-foto mereka saat sedang berada dalam beragam kegiatan saat itu.

Where were you ten years ago when a big turning point took place in Indonesia on May 1998? Director Anggun Priambodo is taking us back to that period of time through a series of stories told by ten year old photographs of his subjects.

Apa artinya sebuah nama? Bagi Sugiharti Halim, ternyata nama berarti sejumlah pertanyaan panjang. Kadang kocak, kerap menjengkelkan, dan yang jelas penuh kontradiksi: Apa benar seseorang perlu nama ‘asli’? Apa betul nama bisa dijual? Apa iya identitas bisa disamarkan di balik sebuah nama? Sugiharti Halim menawarkan sebuah cara pandang yang jenaka, ‘nyelekit’, sekaligus kontekstual untuk ditilik lagi hari ini.

“Hidup telah memberikan banyak waktu, tapi gue tidak pernah memanfaatkan waktu itu untuk hidup gue.” Jen adalah orang biasa yang punya mimpi dan cita-cita. Tapi waktu telah banyak menggerus diri Jen. Banyak yang terlewatkan. Namun, apa yang sebenarnya dilakukan Jen dalam sepuluh tahun terakhir? Perubahan rezim tak banyak mengubah hidupnya. Peristiwa sepuluh tahun silam hanyalah kenang-kenangan visual seperti saat dia hadir di hadapan Jen. Kenangan itu hanya menjadi ‘film’ ingatan tentang sebuah peristiwa.

“Life has given me time. However, I’ve never spent that time to really live.” Jen is an ordinary guy with big dreams and hopes. But, time has passed him by. A lot has happened. What has Jen been doing for the past ten years? The political changes have not changed Jen’s life that much. What happened then for him was just a vivid dream. That memory has turned into a ‘film’ about an occasion that he had witnessed.

Chen Guang adalah perempuan China berusia 21 tahun dan tinggal di Beijing. Ibunya yang orang Indonesia meninggal pada saat terjadi kerusuhan Mei 1998 di Jakarta. Lalu Chen Guang pergi ke Korea, tujuannya adalah ingin menutup kenangan buruk yang selalu ada di dirinya dengan sebuah kenangan yang indah.

Hari pertama di Korea Chen Guang bertemu dengan Huan, yang juga seorang perempuan China sebayanya yang sudah lama tinggal di Korea. Kemudian mulailah perjalanan dua perempuan tersebut. Setelah seharian menghabiskan waktu bersama, Chen Guang dan Huan menginap di sebuah motel kecil di kota Busan. Mereka tidur di salah satu kamar motel itu. Hampir tidak terjadi apa-apa di antara mereka. Paginya, Chen Guang memutuskan untuk pulang ke Beijing karena merasa sudah memperoleh apa yang ia cari, kebahagiaan.

Chen Guang is a 21-year-old Chinese woman, who lives in Beijing. Her Indonesian mother died during the May 1998 riot in Jakarta. She then heads for Korea to erase the terrible memories haunting her, and replace them with good ones. On her first day in Korea, Chen Guang meets Huan, also a Chinese woman of the same age, who has resided in Korea for quite a while. Their journey begins. After spending the whole day together, Chen Guang and Huan spend a night in a small motel; passing the night in one of its rooms. Nothing happens between them, almost. The next morning, Chen Guang decides to return to Beijing because she has found what she’s looking for: happiness.

Perayaan hari istimewa itu senantiasa membawanya kembali ke masa kecilnya saat perayaan Imlek masih dilarang, dan beragam keunikan perayaan Imlek di kalangan terdekatnya, baik dulu maupun sekarang, serta pertanyaan besar yang terus diajukannya tiap kali Imlek tiba.

*) Selama 33 tahun, perayaan Imlek dilarang di Indonesia berdasarkan Inpres No. 14/1967, yang baru dicabut melalui Keppres No.6/2000 di masa kepresidenan Gus Dur dan diperkuat dengan Keppres No. 19/2002 di masa kepresidenan Megawati yang meresmikan perayaan Imlek sebagai salah satu hari libur nasional.

Lucky Kuswandi is taking us on a personal journey he underwent when Imlek, the Chinese New Year, was declared to be a national holiday. The celebration always takes him back to his childhood, when such festivities were still forbidden. Through his eyes, we see the unique colors with which the people celebrate Imlek, past and present, and the big question he always poses with each Imlek.

*) For 33 years, celebrating Imlek (Chinese New Year) had been forbidden in Indonesia, based on the Presidential Instruction no. 14/1967, which was later annulled by Presidential Decree no. 6/2000 issued by President Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur), and enforced by Presidential Decree no. 19/2002 issued by President Megawati, which officially declared Imlek a national holiday.

Writer director Otty Widasari examines various stages of a life capturing birth, youth, marriage, death, growth and the idea of ‘to eat and to find what to eat’ as a natural cycle. Her film Kemarin (English title: Yesterday) sees a period of one decade as some sort of an autobiography of a one’s life.

Ten years has passed since Wawan were shot to death in Semanggi during the May riot. Ever since, his mother, Mrs. Sumarsih , vowed to continue Wawan’s fight for justice. Is she ever going to stop?

Sekolah Kami, Hidup Kami / Our School, Our Lives (Steve Pillar Setiabudi | 2008|11:45]

Pembuat film dokumenter Steve Pillar Setiabudi (Pilar) awalnya hendak menguji kadar kesadaran politik para subjeknya yang masih belia, murid-murid kelas tiga SMA yang akan segera menapak ke Perguruan Tinggi juga menjadi para pemilih di PEMILU 2009.

Dalam perkembangannya, para murid kelas tiga di sebuah SMA di Solo ternyata tak hanya bermimpi di siang hari tanpa melakukan apa-apa untuk mewujudkan perubahan, mereka dengan cara yang matang dan sistimatis berhasil mengumpulkan sejumlah bukti praktik korupsi yang selama ini berlangsung di sekolah mereka. Dan inilah titik balik bagi para remaja itu dalam memahami di mana letakknya masa depan yang lebih baik bila bukan di tangan mereka sendiri.

Documentary filmmaker Steve Pillar Setiabudi (Pilar) initially wanted to get some insight on democracy and political awareness from his young subjects, a group of third year high school students in Solo, who are about to graduate soon and enter another phase of their lives as college students and would become eligible to give their votes on the upcoming election in 2009.

Much to Pilar’s surprise his subjects were playing a key role in revealing the act of corruption that had been taken place in their school. The young students had been successful in conducting a very systematic investigation that lead them to some valid findings (proofs).

April 1998 – Wisnu ‘Kucing’ Suryapratama dikenal sebagai salah satu aktivis KA KBUI (Kesatuan Aksi Keluarga Besar UI). Dia adalah koordinator acara Posko KA KBUI yang mengatur jalannya hampir semua aksi demonstrasi KBUI dari awal sampai akhir. April 2008 – Seorang Wisnu sekarang telah menjadi bapak, pekerja film freelance, suami dengan segala kesibukan pribadinya. Masih adakah sisi demonstran dalam dirinya?

April 1998 – Wisnu ‘Kucing (the cat)’ Suryapratama is one of the activists of KA KBUI (United Movement of the University of Indonesia). He was the program coordinator of the KA KBUI post, who arranged almost all of the KBUI demonstration acts from start to finish. April 2008 – Wisnu is now a father, freelance filmmaker, and husband, with his own routine. Is the demonstrator in him still there?
